Bed Quilt
Cranberry and yellow floral pattern with white stitching
Made with block print technique, an ancient textile tradition where artisans usse hand-carved wooden blocks to stamp intricate patterns repetitively onto the fabric. Centered mostly in Rajasthan and Gujarat, this highly precise craft utilizes natural dyes, resist-paste methods, and multi-generational techniques to produce unique, slow-made textiles.
This quilt is from Sanganeer, India, a city is known for its “Sanganeri printing”, a centuries-old craft which has been preserved by the local Chippa community. Sanganeri prints are famous for their delicate, intricate detailing, small floral motifs, and somber, elegant color palettes against white backgrounds.
