Malaysian Cotton Sarong
Pink with floral design — Machine Printed
Malaysian sarongs, often referred to as kain batik or kain pelikat, are versatile, tube-shaped garments steeped in Southeast Asian tradition. Usually crafted from breathable cotton or silk, they feature stunning wax-resist batik or machine -printed motifs, and are widely used for casual loungewear, religious events, and cultural attire.
This brightly colored cotton sarong features an exuberant floral vocabulary associated with Malaysian and Indonesian batik. Large floral bouquets are arranged in rows against a Chinese-influenced red and pink all-over pattern of tiny flowers.

Floral motifs traditionally draw extensively on flowers, leaves, tendrils, and other forms inspired by the natural environment and are central to Malaysian batik design.
The floral design draws on the abundant flower-and-foliage vocabulary of Malaysian batik, with similarities to the buketan, or floral-bouquet, tradition particularly associated with batiks from Pekalongan in Java. Malaysian batik developed its own regional characteristics while continuing to incorporate Indonesian/Javanese design influences.
Malaysian sarongs traditionally distinguish between areas such as the badan (main body), kepala kain (central or "head" panel), apit kain (framing areas), and tepi kain (upper and lower borders).
