Nomad Tent Rope

Intricately woven with indigenous fibers, this rope helped hold a yurt, or portable felt tent, crucial for the survival of nomadic mongols during the harsh winters. Often used by artisans and builders, these tension ropes (sometimes described as "ropes to fix small problems" in Mongolia) stretch from the crown to the lattice walls. They are used to perfectly center the crown and correct or prevent the dome from twisting during harsh weather.
